LEARNING-FIRST-SPELL
The easiest way to learn your first spell is to first figure out which spell you want to learn. You can figure out what spells you can learn by entering "spells <your class name> 1 1". For example, if you are a mage:
spells mage 1 1
That says, "show me all of the spells that the mage class can learn between the levels of 1 and 1 (all level 1 spells)". Let say you pick "magic missile". Enter:
spells mage magic missile
The spells command shows the runes that are required for a spell. For magic missile, these are "ind, mis, and tek". All you need to do to learn magic missile is to then learn the runes "ind, mis, and tek" from your level one mage guildmaster. You learn the runes using the practice command.
practice ind
Once you learn those runes, enter "spells". Entering spells with no options shows you all of the spells that you know based upon what runes you know. It is not necessary to practice spells -- only runes. Once you know the runes for the spell, you can cast the spell right away.
If you want to find out what other spells use the runes "ind, mis, or tek" to see what spells you now have a headstart on learning, enter:
spells mage ind spells mage mis spells mage tek
You may cast the magic missile spell either by entering:
cast indmistek <victim> (listing the runes in the spell)
or
cast 'magic missile' <victim> (the spell name itself)

LINK
A lot of players have problems with their links to the game. This could be very dangerous to your health in the middle of a combat. But we have worked out a solution. There are two cases:
I. If your link is broken, you will automatically attempt to flee each time someone attempts to hit you. If you manage to flee, then you will be saved by divine forces, and put in a safe place until you reconnect to the game.
II. If your link jams (freezes) you got a problem. The only solution we can give, is that you break your link as quickly as possible. By breaking the link you can hope that the above procedure is initiated.
LIST
In a shop this command will list what the shopkeeper has for sale, with prices.
LISTEN
Syntax:

This skill enables the owner to attempt to determine if there are life forms in the direction specified. Unlike scan, this skill can be used to determine if there is life behind closed doors. It does not, however, report the names of the creatures therein.
Listen is also a social command.

You will have better odds of locating an object if you are close to it.

LOSE
Syntax:
lose <victim name>
This command is used to "lose" any annoying followers that may be trailing you.
If the followers are shadowing you, the lose attempt may fail. The lose skill will help you in losing shadowers. The spot skill helps shadowers continue to be able to trail a victim even if the victim attempts to lose them. Thus the lose skill and the spot skill work against each other.
