Boggus HistoricusA history of Bogg, from 10000 b.t.g. to the coming of the gods

(being a history of Bogg and the surrounding areas from the year 10000 b.t.g.

to the year 0 and the coming of the gods)

Year 10000 b.t.g. (before the gods)

Bands of wandering nomads briefly settled just to the west of present day

Bogg. This has been determined by the finding of several very ancient arti-

facts while the new docks at lake Pelanthia were being built. The artifacts

were of mainly religious purposes it seems(crude talismans and such) but

there also a number of crude tools found.

Year 2000 b.t.g.

The Bilinorian warrior clan's Main Encampment of Tortag grew into a major

center of military power, controlling lands in a 150 mile radius. Tortag

was reputed to be built on the very spot which Lake Pelanthia rests today.

The Bilinorians were completely exterminated by an unknown host out of the

north in 1783 b.t.g..

Year 1075 b.t.g.

After 700 years of clan wars, peace comes to the area. A young warrior

king - Renaldo - pulled the local clans together and formed an Empire. The

Empire was short-lived (till 890 b.t.g.), but the effects of the peace it

brought were longer lasting. Bogg was founded under the Empire in 1022. It

was used mainly as a regional center of control.

Year 980 b.t.g.

The Renaldin Empire is absorbed quietly into the Calgorian Empire.

The brilliant military leader Jih-Calgor, from unknown lands to the west,

now ruled over the area. Jih-Calgor was a brilliant leader, and the lands

grew prosperous. As the fates would have it, tragedy struck and the dreams

of centuries of peace died and were blown away like the leaves of Threck-

wood over Lake Pelanthia.

Jih-Calgor was unable to produce a male heir, although he did produce

seven daughters. As Jih reached the end of his glorious life, tension

erupted between the various suitors for the crown. As we know now, this

was not completely natural. For a number of years the Demon Lord Chrelos

had been sending agents of Evil to infiltrate the Empire and cause

dissension. Tension reached a boiling point on the very day which Jih-

Calgor passed away. The new ruler was to be decided by The 1000, the

parliamentary law making body. Chaos reigned that day in the Hall of the

1000, and violence was about to start when Chrelos struck. He had buil

a force of Evil secretly and with all eyes turned toward the capitol at

Calgador, he struck. Half the Imperial Army was wiped out before word even

made it to Calgador. Things might have gotten very bad for the world had

the pride of the people rose up. The people fought back in the true

tradition of Jih-Calgor. When all was over, the evil of Chrelos had been

defeated, but the Calgarian Empire was gone. Civilization began to decay

and the weeds began to overtake the great highways.

Year 471 b.t.g.

Bogg becomes the local economic center.

Slowly and very quietly civilization began to poke up around the area.

Bogg became the local trading and supply town, and a new kingdom - Arkia

across the Bloodspurs, began to develop trade relations with the town.

This trend would slowly continue until the Evil came again in Year 0.

Year 0.

The Evil once again spilled from the mountains and ran loose over the

earth. Bogg was overran and destroyed almost completely. It was just after

Bogg fell that the evil tide, almost at their moment of triumph, was

stopped and driven back in crushing fashion. A group of mysterious gods

from the lands of the south came and drove the Evil back into their dark

holes. The leader of these gods was a young one named Slick Fox, who had

been born a mortal. After the gods routed the Evil, they returned to Bogg

and in exchange for the devotion of the people, rebuilt the town.
